World Mental Health Day 2022
On Monday, 10th October we celebrate World Mental Health Day. It aims to raise awareness of mental health issues around the world and to mobilize efforts in support of mental health.
The theme of 2022’s World Mental Health Day, set by the World Federation for Mental Health, is ”Make mental health and well-being for all a global priority”.
According to the World Health Organization ”around the world, one in four people will have some kind of mental illness during their lifetime. Around 450 million people are living with a mental health problem right now, making it one of the biggest health issues in the world. Yet people rarely talk about any mental health problems they have because there is still a lot of stigma.”
As you know via the Virago project we put all possible efforts to empower women. The empowerment in terms of taking care of their mental health is one of our priorities too.
In the contemporary world, we are exposed to different levels of stress. The pressure imposed by the environment, personal problems, work problems, or school failures, are only some examples that contribute to the deterioration of people’s mental health. When you feel that your stress levels have reached their peak, it is time to take a quick break to reset.
How to take care of your mental health?
-> get some exercise, swimming, dancing, yoga, walking, hiking, riding a bike, or other sports have positive impact not only on your physical health, but on your mental health too. Physical activity helps to reduce the stress level.
->eat well. Do you know this saying ” you are what you eat”? Follow healthy diet, eat fruit and vegetables, drink water, reduce sweets, and coffee. Do not eat food very late or just before going to sleep. Well-balanced diet will allow you to have healthy brain.
->spend time with your family and friends. Socialising is one of the most basic needs of people.
