Here we are with a policy on gender equality in Italy:

✍️This paper gives an overview of Italy’s gender-equality legislation and policies, with a focus on recent developments and achievements during the last several decades. It discusses gender equality in the workplace, work-life balance, and the rights of women in decision-making positions. Despite significant progress under the pressure of the women’s movement, civic society, and European legislation, Italy is still far from achieving adequate results.

The 2021 EIGE Index shows very small improvement in Italy’s performance regarding Gender Equality. Since 2010, Italy’s score has increased by 10.5 points, increasing its ranking by seven places. However, since 2018, Italy’s score has shown no change (only +0.3 points) and its ranking has dropped by one place. Most improvements have been made in the domain of power, while a step backwards has been made in the domain of knowledge, which shows reduced participation of women in tertiary education and their segregation in education, health and welfare, humanities and arts.
